Q. What is Hilbert College Giving Day?

Giving Day is Hilbert College’s annual 24-hour giving campaign that inspires and encourages alumni, students, faculty and staff, friends, and community supporters to provide essential funding that supports current and future students.


Q. When is it?

Hilbert College Giving Day 2019 will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone may donate. Donations through the Hilbert College Giving Day online portal are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.


Q. Can I participate in Giving Day if I did not graduate from Hilbert College?

Of course! Current students, parents, faculty and staff, friends, and community members are encouraged to support the college on Giving Day. When prompted in the giving form, simply select the role you are most closely affiliated with. Every dollar raised helps to Boost the Momentum and improve the overall college experience for current and future Hilbert Hawks.


Q. What forms of donations are accepted?

MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express donations received through the website on Giving Day.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Giving on the go is simple – simply visit givingday.hilbert.edu.


Q. Is my payment secure?

Hilbert College Giving Day is facilitated by GiveGab, a company who has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts through givingday.hilbert.edu . Q. Can I send a gift by mail or phone?

Payments can be made by phone or mail. However, due to the tight period of Giving Day, only gifts made online, by phone, or in response to Giving Day mailings prior to April 10, 2019 count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone on April 10, please call (716) 926-8860.


Q. If I give in advance of Giving Day, will my gift help contribute to the leaderboards?

Yes! Gifts made in advance of Giving Day and in response to Giving Day mailings will be displayed on the leaderboard when it goes live on April 10, 2019. Gifts can be made at https://giving.hilbert.edu/pages/hilbert-giving-day before April 10, 2019.


Q. Can I use my employer’s matching gifts funds?

Yes! We strongly encourage you to tap into your employer’s generosity to enhance the impact of your support at Hilbert College. To see if your company offers this benefit, or to learn more about your company’s guidelines, visit our matching gift portal.


Q. How can I help promote Giving Day?

We rely heavily on word of mouth and peer to peer networking to help Boost the Momentum of our Giving Day event! We would love for you to share the images and messages that are located in the Downloads (https://givingday.hilbert.edu/info/downloads) however you see fit. (Send an email to classmates and colleagues, post on your Facebook page, share on Twitter or Instagram, post to LinkedIn, etc.)


Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card statement?

Gifts made on Giving Day through the GiveGab platform (givingday.hilbert.edu) will appear on the donors’ credit card(s) as Hilbert College.


Q. Is my Hilbert Giving Day contribution tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes.


Q. Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes! You will be automatically emailed a receipt acknowledging your gift, sent to the email address you provide upon payment.


Q. Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $5 minimum donation.


Q. How much of my donation will the university receive?

There is a 2% processing fee and a 2.2% (+$.30) bank fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express). You will have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift. If you choose not to do so, the cost will be absorbed through Hilbert College’s administrative budget, leaving 100% of your gift to support students and to remain tax deductible.


Q. Where does my Giving Day gift go?

Supporters are encouraged to designate gifts to a chosen area within the Hilbert College Giving Day platform. All unaffiliated funds raised will be given to the Hilbert Fund, which supports the college’s overall needs, helps to fund scholarship and sporting opportunities for students, and provides faculty and staff with the tools and technology needed to Boost the Momentum in the classroom.


Q. What if I already made a gift to Hilbert College this year?

Thank you for supporting Hilbert College! We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to further Boost the Momentum by making an additional gift of any size on April 10th. Along with monetary gifts, we also invite you to contribute to Giving Day by helping to promote the event to others within your network. We have created a sample email and social media post to help you do this more easily, which can be found in the Ambassador Toolkit at https://givingday.hilbert.edu/info/downloads.
